SILENCERS | SUPPRESSORS | NFA

What’s it all about?  Why is everybody buying silencers?

First of all, silencers are cool! You know when your buddy sees you with one, he will have silencer envy!

Additionaly, silencers protect hearing, reduce recoil and muzzle flash, and allow gun owners to enjoy shooting even more! Bonus; your neighbors will love you for it!

Once you shoot suppressed, you’ll never go back!

Are Silencers Legal? | What is the process to buy a silencer?

Owning a silencer (suppressor) in the U.S. is legal in 42 states (including Michigan) and involves a multi-step process regulated under the National Firearms Act (NFA) by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The process typically involves purchasing the item, submitting an ATF Form 4 with fingerprints and a photo, undergoing an FBI background check, paying a federal tax of $200 per suppressor (goes to $0 in January 2026), and waiting for ATF approval.

Don’t worry, we do the heavy lifting!

We just need you to go to the ATF eforms page click here and set up a username, password, and PIN number. After you have done that, give us a call to set up a 1 hour appointment to do fingerprinting, photo, and the Form 4 application. When you come in, we just need a valid driver’s license with your current address, and your username and PIN number.

How long does it take to get my application (Tax Stamp) back?

Due to changes in the way the ATF processes Form 4s, wait times have been dramatically reduced from over a year, to  only a few days! Additionaly, due to recent legislation, (“The Big Beautiful Bill”), Tax Stamps will be reduced to $0 in January.  It would be resonable to assume wait times may increase at that time, due to an influx of applications. Also, we recommend avoiding the rush of people buying silencers, by buying your silencer now (we will hold on to it), and then we can do the application in January. This will help you avoid any supply availability issues or price increases that may occur.

 Choosing a Silencer

We’re here to help you!

First of all, what’s the difference between a silencer, and a suppressor?

Don’t worry, the terms are used interchangeably. “Silencer” is the legal term; “suppressor” is more technically accurate, since they suppress, not silence the shot.
